Club Mandate

1.  The MCC club operates as a network of friends who stay in regular contact to meet and participate in kayaking trips and other outdoor adventure pursuits.

2.  The more capable members tend to offer the benefit of their knowledge and experience to those less seasoned members.  However the club does not provide instruction in kayaking or other outdoor pursuits.

3.  In general new members are attracted to join the club through its website, or in response to an invite from an existing member.

4.  All members are required pay an annual membership fee, sign a health and safety indemnity waiver, and agree to abide by the NZ Recreational Canoeing Association NZRCA Code of Practice.

5.  Any member may organise a trip. In practice though less seasoned members typically attend trips organised by those with greater capability, as members attend trips at their own risk - not the clubs, or the trip organisers.

6.  Members benefit by being covered by the clubs public liability insurance on all trips they attend (as an individual, or with other club members). Public liability insurance is essential for attaining access to some of the managed forest areas.

7.  Members may benefit through storing their boats at the clubs storage facility – additional fees apply.

8.  Member communications are generally handled electronically using the most appropriate method: website, email, telephone, or text message.

9.  Members are emailed a regular newsletter that informs them of coming events and matters of interest.

10.A General Meeting is convened annually at which time the clubs officials: President and Treasurer get nominated and elected to serve the members.
